Introduction

The discipline of "Information and Communication Engineering" and "Electronic Information" is mainly focuses on information acquisition, storage, transmission, processing, and information and communication equipment, as well as system research, analysis, design, development, maintenance, testing, integration and application. On the one hand, to study the information transmission and exchange is the main body of this discipline, relating to telecommunications, broadcasting, television, navigation, remote sensing, remote testing, remote control, Internet, etc. in the national economy and defense applications. The discipline mainly studies the composition and system principle, system structure, functional connection, the application protocol, performance assessment, of all kinds of information and communication network. On the other hand, it takes the research on signal and information processing as the core to study the information acquisition, transformation, storage and transmission, including the algorithm and system of signal and information processing, physical realization, performance evaluation and system application.

The discipline in Chongqing University is based on the key construction discipline of "Spacecraft Measurement and Remote Sensing Information Transmission Technology" in National 211 Project, the science and technology innovation platform "Measurement and Remote Sensing Information Transmission" in National 985 Projects, Chongqing SCDMA Wireless Access Engineering Technology Research Center", "Chongqing University's Broadband Engineering Technology Research Center" and "Chongqing Vehicle Measurement and Remote Sensing Information Transmission Technology" key laboratory, Chongqing Key Laboratory of “Bio-perception & Intelligent Information Processing”. The discipline of "Information and Communication Engineering" was granted the right to confer master's degree in 2000. The discipline of "Communication and Information System" was granted the right to confer doctor's degree in 2003.The discipline of "Information and Communication Engineering" was approved as the key discipline of Chongqing municipality in 2006, and the post-doctoral research station in 2007. In 2017, the discipline of "Information and Communication Engineering" was conferred the right to confer the first-level doctoral degree.

The main research directions of this discipline include the theory and technology of communication and measurement and control system, air-ground information network, new-generation mobile communication, antenna engineering and application, intelligent information processing, etc.

Objects

With the rapid rise of information globalization and further increasing of international competition, communication and information field is faced with a more challenging environment. This graduate program's targets are as follows:

1. to master the basic theory and systematic expertise of information science.

2. to cultivate high-level specialized and administrative specialists with international perspective in fields of information technology and related areas, with strong capabilities to work in communication and information system, the principle, system, processing method and application of electronic information system including information acquisition, transformation, storage, transmission and processing, etc.
